Some people say there is noting like a good Irish Wedding, the Crack, the surrounding and the atmosphere of friendship and unity. After attending many Weddings around the world I must say I agree, there is nothing like a good Irish wedding. For a lot of people like myself who now live abroad it’s also a great way to catch up with a lot of people you have not seen in years.

The last wedding I was at was a high school friend; it was on the 2nd of January 2010. In the middle of all the celebrations at the reception I noticed myself looking around the room and noticing the amount of planning that must go into preparing a wedding. Everything was perfect, from the chair covers to the wedding transportation to the Bridesmaids outfits, but I noticed one thing that stood out in the middle of this exceptional day, it was the wedding candle. The candle was sitting at the top table between the bride and groom burning away and it truly was an exceptional candle.

A wedding candle in my eyes is one of the more important items at a wedding; it is the first sign of unity the couple show the world when they light the candle on the altar together. This candle was so exceptional I didn’t want it to burn, see the candle HERE. It was a traditional white pillar wedding candle, but it had a Lily attached to it. This was not just a carving of a lily it was a full scale model of a real life lily that was raised from the surface with its stalk in the background wrapping around the candle to attach it to the pillar and give it an exceptional look. It also had two gold wedding bands attached to the front of the candle under the Lily to represent his and hers wedding bands that were exchanged at the ceremony as a promise of faithfulness and togetherness. These Gold bands are also raised off the base of the candle. To finish it all off the couple had their names and the date of their wedding inscribed at the bottom of the candle.

The craftsmanship that went into this candle was amazing; it looked so marvelous sitting at the head table. I was not the only one to notice it as I heard many other people asking the bride where she got the candle. It was handmade in Ireland by a company based in Fermanagh, this company The Celebration Candle Company supplies only to trade but you can get the candle HERE. There is also a full line of Irish wedding candles and other candles here if one is not your favorite choice.
